Unfortunately I only have a /30 subnet for the external IP's, which
makes for one for the router and one for a gb800.

Can this be worked around, or am I going to have to have to get the ISP
to assign us a bigger subnet?

As a second question, I'm assuming I'm going to need to stick a
switch/hub between the two GB's external interface and the router. This
would seem to add an additional single point of failure which was not
there before. Is there a simple workaround for this?

TIA

Richard

Hi Richard,

Have a look at the chapter titled "H2A on Two Subnets" in the manual (http://www.gta.com/downloads/external/50/General/H2A_Guide_5.0.pdf). This covers the situation you're in. You can configure the H2A setup, but since you only have a single public IP you won't be able to manage the standby firewall from the internet.

Regarding your second question: depending on your ISP, you might be able to get two uplink cables, connecting to different switches on your ISP's side, thus increasing your redundancy.
