If there is a problem with the card and the switch negotiating a speed, a quick and dirty way to resolve this problem is to skip the auto-negotiation step altogeter. I would set the speed of the switch port manually. I know how to do this on 3Com switches but am not sure about your catalyst. I doubt its very hard.

Howdy,

My Gnatbox Pro (3.0.1) is having problems autonegotiating with Cisco
Catalyst (5000 series) switch ports. The Catalyst switch port is configured
for full-duplex but the external interface on the Gnatbox is
auto-negotiating to half-duplex when it boots. So I'm having some
performance issues here. Any ideas?

BTW, the ethernet card on the gnatbox is 3Com 3c905B-TX Fast Etherlink XL.

Thanks in advance,
-Simon
